What is Seasonal Yoga?
Seasonal Yoga is a system created and developed by Sue Woodd and Julie Hanson in the mid 1990s which merges Indian Yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoism to create a system of health and well-being that's ideal for the modern Western world. Our modern high paced, stressful lives and social media has created an environment in which we are permanently switched on. With the advancement of technology we have forgotten how to live seasonally. Seasonal Yoga helps us to tune back into nature and guide our lifestyle and yoga practice on the mat.
Seasonal Yoga provides a framework with which we can take back control of our health and well-being to achieve a state of radiant health through exercise, diet, lifestyle, mindfulness and meditation.
The root of Seasonal Yoga is in Taoism, a belief system based on the idea that there is a central organising principle of the Universe, a natural order or way that one can come to know by living. So in Taoism we don't learn about nature but from nature.
Balanced well-being depends on understanding and integrating our own cycles with those of nature, living in harmony with the changes brought about by each season is the key to personal development, health and well-being. Eastern philosophy and ways to manage health are often misunderstood by people living in the West. It has felt unreachable, too complicated and mysterious.
Seasonal Yoga packages both ancient philosophies of Taoism and Indian Yoga into an easy to understand and follow system specially designed for our busy, stressful and hectic lives in the West. Trust me, it works!
